Kelly Hughes (Punchline Australian Shepherds) and Suede finished her AX and her NF titles this weekend at the AKC Agility trial in NJ. Now they get a much deserved break from trials during the holiday season.

We did the USDTC show today and she placed first in Jumpers and first in standard against 6 or 7 dogs.

This weekend

Navrocks Unshakeable Devotion CGC "Dev" was entered at the Regional DockDogs competition in Plantersville, TX. Last weekend was his first weekend in the pool at practice. He had no trouble what so ever!

DockDogs is set up by Divisions. Each division has a certain length. Dev earned 3 legs in the Junior Division and one in the Senior. It takes 5 legs to get a title. Placements are 1st through 4th place.

Wave 1: Jr 14 feet- 2nd place
Wave 2: Jr 14.07 feet- 1st place
Wave 3: Jr 13.02 feet- 3rd place
Wave 4: Sr 17 feet- 4th place
Wave 5: Sr 16.09 feet

At the first day Kengu and Tricky got both "GOOD" - evaluations from Judge Andrew Brace, Great-Britain. On Sunday Tricky got "VERY GOOD" under judge Elena Ruskovaara, Finland. On Friday, Brite went 3/3, getting her first Q in Open Touch N Go, her 2nd Q in Open Tunnelers, and finishing her Novice Weavers title with 1st place! On Saturday she picked up an extra Novice Weavers Q, again with first place, and on Sunday she got her 2nd Open Jumpers Q and finished her Open Tunnelers title. They have been working on distance, and she did really well with that at the show.

Crystal Peaks Rockstar Quartz GS-N STDs (ASCA Major Ptd) Katrina Anderson (Crystal Peak) reports that "Rockstar" did really well at the ASCA show this weekend:


Mr Rockstar who as always exceeds all expectations, he had not been at the end of a show lead since Nationals for practice or show but showed like a champ anyway. He got Reserve Winners Dog Saturday morning under judge Jillian Ward to a three point major. That afternoon he went Winners Dog and Best Opposite Sex over two special males for a 3 point major under Breeder Judge Lynn Hamon. I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. Go plain jane Boy. Is there really anything this dog does not do for me? Anything I ask of him he gives his all. I really never thought I would love a boy so much but he is very special. Slow steady worker on stock, fast agility dog, great show dog, and couch potato at home.

Navrock's Love Shaker RN "Auggie" (Elsie x Jake)finished his Rally Novice title this weekend in style. He was three for three in Q's! Also, Auggie made his conformation debut at this show. On Saturday, McKayla Smith (Waterfall) and her mom Rebecca lent a hand to show Lorie the ropes of conformation. Auggie came home with his first Winners Dog.

Waterfall's Caution: Molten Hot! RN (AKC Pointed/2 majors ASCA/2 legs CD) "Coral" is showing no signs of letting up on her charge to finish performance and conformation titles! This little red head wants a BALANCED name, titles on both ends! Watch for Coral and Rebecca at upcoming shows in Rally, Obedience and Conformation.

This weekend Coral picked up two more 99's with placements! She also picked up her first AKC points going WB/BOW/BOS to half brother "Auggie"!

Crystal Peaks Jump'n Jack Flash JS-N (1 leg GS-N) "Flash" and Melissa Lamoureaux really are starting to click as a team in the conformation ring! Flash took home his very first RWD to the Major this weekend.

Zestforlife Snowflake "Nasu" and littermate Zestforlife Simply the Best "Pate" had a wonderful warm summer play date! Both dogs are doing well on the show circut and are starting obedience training.

This time he was at the BVASC shows, handled by Robin Mulligan (Pinnacle Australian Shepherds). JR went WD/BOW/Best of Breed under Breeder Judge David Clayton for a 5 point major. He then went RWD to a 4pt major under Breeder Judge Terri Altergott. He concluded his weekend with a 4pt major under Senior Breeder Judge Sandy Cornwell. JR now has 11 points toward his breed Championship and will hopefully be Tosca's 3rd Champion!

Northern Nevada Australian Shepherd Club Agility Trial

Crystal Peaks Jump'n Jack Flash JS-N (1 leg GS-N) "Flash" and Melissa Lamoureaux ran at the Northern Nevada Australian Shepherd Club Agility Trial this weekend and, pending certification, Flash received his first jumpers title (JS-N) and one leg towards his Gambler's title. It was a busy, fun-packed weekend. He is taking herding lessons and has started to settle in, however, he is a strong-willed dog, and it will be a while before we trial in that venue. He is also training in obedience and rally, and like his dad loves frisbees and balls. They will be taking a shot at conformation in a couple of weeks.

Northern Nevada Australian Shepherd Club Agility Trial

Crystal Peaks Jump'n Jack Flash JS-N (1 leg GS-N) It was the 1st trial for the Lacy x Jake kids and for the most part they did very well. Topaz ran some great runs Fri and Sat. She got one novice jumpers Q missed another by a knocked bar but ran the fastest of the whole class some 20 seconds under SCT. She ran her one standard course very clean and fast with the exception of the weave poles which we do not have yet.

Crystal Peaks Rockstar Quartz GS-N STDs Katrina reports that "Rockstar" is very very fast. He did finish his Novice Gamblers title with lots of points and first place each time. He ran both of his two standard runs flawlessly wicked fast except of course the weave poles. Both runs 20 seconds plus under SCT.


Finally, Katrina ran a few runs with Aura,

(ASCA Major ptd - 10 mjr pts/1 leg RS-O) Brite and owner Liz went to a DockDogs competition on Sunday and qualified for JJ-R title in Dockdogs (Junior Jumper). Brite jumped great in her first wave, hitting her personal best of 14 feet!! On the second wave, she took some prodding and didn't launch right away, but still jumped over 9 feet from a stand still!! ;o) Her first jump was enough to qualify her for the finals, where she jumped 13 feet, 1 inch, which was good enough to win her 4th place in the Junior Finals. That also counts as her fifth leg, so she earned her Junior Regional DockDogs title (JJ-R)


Slydrocks Blue Star Shine on Texas JJ-R Shine and Jayna also picked up their JJ-R at the DockDogs trial that same weekend. Jayna says that once the lightbulb went off in Shine's head he never looked back, a Dock Diving Lover 100%!

This weekend they were working with Cesar Millan. This is the third time in the past year Kelly has done a show with him, and she says she really enjoys doing them. This weekend was a split weekend for the Punchline crew. They spent Saturday in Buckeystown, MD, at the Mid-Atlantic ASC's 1st Annual Dicky Renn Memorial trial. There were two trials both days, but on Sunday, they headed to Shamong, NJ to Burlington Kennel Club's AKC herding trial.


At the Mid-A trial, Suede scored over 100 on both of her sheep runs and both of her duck runs. Her high score for the day was 119, on advanced ducks, under Maarten Walter, and she won the Advanced sheep class in the second trial. She was second in all of her other runs.

At the AKC trial, Suede scored 97 1/2 out of 100 in advanced ducks to win the class and to also get HIT! The win gave her a major toward her AKC herding Championship.

We'll I am very proud of my little red dog!! We entered AKC Fast Saturday and Sunday for our very first trial and she did wonderful! She qualified in both runs and ran like a champ! She acted like she had been doing it for years. She held all her contacts, had beautiful stays at the start line. She poped her weave entry yesterday and poped out the 3rd pole today, but I sent her back and she did them. She had a bonus of a jump and tunnel yesterday and a tunnel and chute today and she went right out and took them like a pro! She could have placed possibly, but I did not want to push her to hard being her first time out. I just wanted her to have fun!

Katrina Anderson reports on her weekend with "Rocky"!!!!

This weekend was my second stock trial, it was Rockstar's first stockdog and ASCA trial. In order not to overdo it we just entered three sheep runs. It worked that two of his runs were on Friday and he got a 84 on his first run, and a 90 on his second run with a fourth place to earn our first ever stock title together STDs. We got an insurance leg of 83 this afternoon.


He was a very very good boy I was so thrilled with him. He handled everything like a pro and was I believe the youngest dog out trialing this weekend at 19 months with a very novice handler. This is after dealing with four in season girls at home. I feel very fortunate that he had a brain in his head. I will hopefully be able to share one video and some photos from the trial soon. It was nice to get out there competing again after a very long hiatus.

Congratulations Katrina on your much deserved first stock title, I am certain it will be the first of many in the years to come!!

Yesterday, she just ran advanced ducks, and got 1st place out of 9 with a score of 90 out of 100.Today, she ran advanced cattle, and got 1st (OK, she was the only one in the class) with a score of 84. She ran ducks again as well, and got 1st again with a score of 92 out of 100 and was in a three way tie for HIT. She now has her HXAds, and will hopefully finish up her HXAc sometime thissummer.

On Coral's 7 month birthday she was moved up from Pre-Novice to Novice and picked up her first CD leg with a score of 183.5. Then they quickly headed to an AKC Rally trial and got a 99 out of 100 in Rally Novice B picking up 3rd place. Not yet done, back to the ASCA show where Coral picked up a RWB to the 5 point major under Judge Libby Graham. Congratulations Rebecca!

CH Thornapple Mercury Hotshot (ASCA 2 majors) "Jackson" (Jake x Chante) and Todd picked up their second 5 point ASCA Major going Winners Dog/Best of Winners this Saturday under Judge Mary Murphy East.

Crystal Peaks Mystic Topaz "Topaz" (Jake x Lacy) and all of her siblings are working very hard for their early May debut herding. Crystal Peaks (Katrina Anderson) now has her own stock to work with so the are all making progress by leaps and bounds!

Zestforlife Storm Cloud Tricky's first official obedience trial was in Oulu. The judge was Piritta Pärssinen. Tricky got 176 points from a possible 200. And was placed second in Novice class! Now Pia and Tricky are qualified for the Open class obedience. Congratulations Pia and Tricky!

Tricky was the youngest dog in this trail (26 dogs) and there is only four dog who got the first class prize in whole test. And Tricky is one of these.

The judge said that we work together well and Tricky seems to love this action.

In Finland they have four levels of obedience (ALO ="Novice", AVO = "Open", VOI = "Winner", EVL = "Special Winner"). You have to get a first class prize from ALO to go to next level (AVO) and so on to (AVO->VOI->EVL). And you have to get three first class prizes from the EVL before your dog is Obedience Champion and you can use TVA before your dogs' name.

Florida Pan-handlers ASC

Navrock's Made For Each Other "Maddee" and Cindy Alison (Mandolyn) had fun showing in the 4-6 month puppy class. She showed well and took 3rd out of 4 puppies at the AM show, and 2nd out of 6 at the PM show. She figured out how to bait for the cookie and was a trooper at stacking and standing still. Cindy thinks Maddee is a spittin image of her Mom! She had fun at the show. Watch for Maddee this coming weekend at the FASA show.

Slydrock Shield Your Eyes NA, NAJ, RS-N, GS-N, JS-N, JS-N-OP, TN-N, NAC, NJC, NCC, WV-N, TG-N (ASCA Major ptd), "Brite" and Liz Neuman got a Q and 3rd place in their debut Open JWW run and a Q and 4th place in Novice FAST! 2009 has been a successful year already for this team. Navrock's Made For Each Other and Navrock's Love Connection, "Maddee" and "Connie" find a familar spot! Each month they have had their photo taken sitting in this very spot. They are growing by leaps and bounds. Both girls have big show plans for the new year, watch for them in show and performance rings.

Navrock Mercury Arctic Shadow sends her 5 month old update as well! She is gearing up for her Rally Novice debut the very first weekend she is 6 months! Looks like half brothers, "Ice" and "Blitz" have a little sister hot on their heels in performance. Troika will also be out in the breed ring, both AKC and ASCA this season.

Slydrock Shield Your Eyes NAJ, RS-N, GS-N, JS-N, JS-N-OP, TN-N, NAC, NJC, NCC, WV-N, TG-N (ASCA Major ptd), "Brite" and Liz Neuman had a dynamite weekend again! On Saturday Brite took a 3rd place and Q for her JWW title. On Sunday "Brite" ran two clean runs for 1st place in each run!

AKC Agility

Navrock's Love Connection and sister Navrock's Made For Each Other have worked very hard in their puppy classes! They are now among the first puppies in the country to successfully complete the requirements for the AKC S.T.A.R. Program.

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppysm is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppysm Program is an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class. We can hardly wait to see where Sally and Barb will take these girls, the sky is the limit.

Belton Kennel Club, Inc.

Thornapple Mercury Arctic Blast RN, CGC (NEW) HIC, "Ice" [Jake x Chante] picked up the 2 evaluation legs needed for his Herding Instinct Certificate. Eileen and Ice plan to pursue upper level herding trialing in addition to their Rally, Obedience, Agility and Conformation careers.

The purpose of non-competitive herding tests is to offer herding breed owners a standardized gauge by which a dog's basic instinct and trainability are measured. The judge is looking for the dogs ability to move and control livestock by fetching or driving.

"Brite" starts the New Year off on the right paw! She and Liz had a NADAC trial and "Brite" did really well. She picked up another Novice Weavers leg (hit her entry on all sets and stayed in!) and her first Open Jumpers leg. Watch for Liz and Brite at AKC/ASCA and NADAC agility trials 2009.
